Michael H. Kay

Michael joined the firm in 1970, one year after being called to the Bar of Québec. A graduate of the Université de Montréal, he is fluently bilingual and has practised law in both of Canada's official languages throughout his career.

From the outset, Michael chose litigation as his career path and has devoted his professional life to this area of practice, specializing in insurance and professional liability, as well as bodily and personal injury litigation. 

Acting on behalf of individual clients, he has extensive experience handling bodily injury claims, medical malpractice matters, and insurance disputes. He has also represented major insurance companies in pursuing subrogation claims and defending liability and insurance coverage matters.

Throughout his career, fellow lawyers have regularly sought his advice and counsel and have referred clients to him in recognition of his respected expertise in his fields of practice.

Since its inception, the Québec Bar Lawyers' Professional Liability Fund has retained Michael to defend its interests and those of lawyers against whom professional liability claims have been made.

After 57 years in the practice of law, Michael is no longer actively involved in managing files but continues to provide guidance, counsel, and mentorship to the firm's younger lawyers.

Michael has frequently been invited to speak at professional events, has been interviewed on radio, and has served as a lecturer in the Bar of Québec's Continuing Education Program, as well as for college students.
